Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a wait list?
Yes. Laura is one of only a few Positive Behavior Supports Facilitators providing services in this area of Virginia. There are usually 3-6 individuals waiting for services at any given time.
Should I wait until you have fewer people waiting to make a referral?
It is recommended that you make a referral so that you/your individual can be placed on the wait list now. Sometimes people call to inquire about the wait list, take some time to look for other providers who are available, and then call back a couple of weeks later to make the referral. Meanwhile, the wait list grew in between their calls, so their wait time was extended.
What do you need for a new referral?
Find a link to the Referral form, Team Member Agreements form, and Consent to Exchange Confidential Information form on the Behavior Consultation page under Services. After completing the Referral form, please complete a separate consent form for each agency involved (for example: case management, residential, family, etc.). A representative from each service provider, including family as applicable, must complete a Team Member Agreements form to be submitted along with the referral packet (sponsored placement agencies need agreements from both the home provider and supervisor). PLEASE DO NOT SEND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION as it sometimes becomes outdated while the individual is on the wait list.
How do I send you the referral, agreements, and consent forms?
Referrals, agreements, and consent forms should be faxed to 888-837-2802 or sent by ENCRYPTED email to alittlebithippie@gmail.com. Please be aware that sending these documents by regular email attachment does not meet HIPAA compliance standards.
I sent you my referral packet and haven't heard back from you. What should I do?
The referral source should receive a confirmation email within 2-3 business days. If you do not receive confirmation of placement on the wait list, please call 540-570-0047 or send an email to alittlebithippie@gmail.com
How long will the person I referred be waiting for services?
New referrals start receiving services as others graduate from the program. Due to the nature of behavior consultation services, it is difficult to estimate how long services might last with a team. Some teams move quickly through the process while others experience delays. The process is dependent on many factors regarding the individual, for example, the intensity of the challenging behaviors, illness, medication changes, program changes, etc. These factors add adjustment periods to the process. Also, issues with the team can cause delays, for example, how often they meet, how consistent they are in implementing the action plans, staff turnover, etc.
How will we know what to expect when services begin?
When services are ready to begin for a new individual/team, Positive Behavior Supports Plus, Inc. will contact the referral source and/or the case manager for additional documentation, funding requests, and scheduling of the initial appointment. At the initial appointment, the Positive Behavior Supports Facilitator or Music Therapist will describe the scope of services to the individual/family/team and begin the assessment process.
Teams are mentioned frequently, but I want services for myself, or for me and my child. Can I still receive services?
Yes, services can be adjusted as needed. Contact us with specific questions or needs.
Will regular Medicaid or Virginia Premier pay for services?
Unfortunately, regular Medicaid such as Virginia Premier does not pay for Positive Behavior Support services or Music Therapy. More people are needed to advocate on the state and federal levels to get this type of funding available for the individuals who need these services. How do I pay privately for services?
Payment for private pay services is expected at the time services are rendered. Positive Behavior Supports Plus, Inc. accepts credit cards, checks, and cash. You will receive an invoice documenting your payment.
